The Skimlinks team took the day off on Friday, even thought we all hate to get out of the office.
Alicia whisked us all away to Cambridge on Friday and proceeded to send us down the river.
With the team split into two punting boats, we headed out onto the water (in the rain) with ex-punting chauffeur Mark showing the rest of us how it was done. He also provided intermittent and somewhat unreliable commentary on the passing landmarks.
Upon arriving at our destination; a lovely little Italian restaurant on the shore, we moored the Skimpunts, and then unmoored them to complete a dicey rescue manoeuvre to save a maverick boat that was heading downstream without a captain.
After more wine and a whole lotta linguine, we kicked off a race back to base, that involved a little un-fairplay.
We won’t name any names, but I can confirm that boat-ramming and splashing was involved.
The team trudged back to the station, with the majority of members dozing off on the train like children at the end of the school trip. Awesome.
