The Sway is a success!

On Tuesday, May 26th, Skimbit hosted the first meeting of ‘The Sway’ in Shoreditch, and by all accounts, the evening was a hit!

With more than 50 bloggers, publishers, and media minds, The Sway provided the perfect opportunity to meet, network, learn and inspire others.

Alicia kicked off the evening with a welcome address and a little info about Skimbit’s various products, and was followed by Vanessa Tindale, William Rowe and Georgie Coleridge Cole, who all presented their own experiences in the online space.

The slightly experimental ‘Sway Debates’ then began, with the whole audience getting right into the spirit of things!

Matt Bailey, James Bromley and Katie Lee presented their opinions on the pressing issues facing bloggers and publishers today, and members of the audience were asked to give an argument – whether it was for or against our speakers.

The innovative format went down a treat, with guests raving about the event on Twitter afterwards!

The next event is already in the works, with the buzz encouraging us to hold The Sway again even sooner than we first decided. And next time, it will be even bigger and better!

Podcasts and vox pops from the event will soon be available online at www.thesway.org, and if you’d like to come along next time, you can apply at http://www.meetup.com/TheSway/

Keep an eye out for the next announcement!

Skimbit to host The Sway in May

Skimbit is leading a movement. A gentle, grass-roots movement.

It’s called The Sway, and it’s not lead by advertisers and ad networks, but by content creators. It is driven by the fact that it is increasingly difficult to make money from publishing content. Unless you have a huge audience and dedicated ad sales team, it can be hard to make a living from content, and with CPM rates sliding down lower and lower, something has got to give.

Our vision for The Sway is it will be part networking for commercial content creators, part learning of what is working for other content creators, and part debate to build up our own industry ethics for how to make money from content in an ethical way. And there will be wine! Free wine!

Come join us, spread the word. Places are limited, but just ask us for an invitation if you’d like to come!

Skimbit’s Alicia Navarro, as well as Katie Lee, William Rowe and James Bromley are four of the confirmed speakers.
